Another "Royal" Blunder...
Imagine my surprise today when one of our RTA's sent me this e-mail:
Subject: Job Listing: Franchise Development Manager at Royal Caribbean Cruises, LTD.
I saw this cool job today and thought you might want to check it out:Franchise Development Manager at Royal Caribbean Cruises, LTD.
I found it on http://www.simplyhired.com/, the world's largest search engine for jobs.
Am I to gather from this correspondence that while Royal Caribbean is terminating relationships with a select few Agencies they've labeled "Card Mills" they have a vested interest in other home based business networks?
"Royal Caribbean MAGICJohnson Travel Group L.P. Magic Johnson Travel Group is the first home-based travel agent franchise network specifically targeting multicultural franchisees and customers. We strive to cultivate organic growth in the minority travel segment and empower entrepreneurs and new travelers across America."
I guess that includes us in YTB and Joystar? (Although they are focused on reaching out to the African American, Hispanic American and Asian American communities as new sellers and buyers of home-based travel, everyone is more than welcome to become a part of this unique business opportunity.) You will also have an opportunity to "speak to individuals and groups on behalf of customers to stimulate interest in franchise ownership."
Since it's focus is minorities, that makes it okay?
I've known about the Magic Johnson Travel Group since May of 2006, when it was launched. I was until this morning, unaware that Royal Caribbean still has a vested interest in this opportunity.
At the time, President of Royal Caribbean International Adam Goldstein stated, "Royal Caribbean International believes this venture will cultivate new sellers and buyers of travel in Urban America and fill a large void in the agency community. We share Earvin 'Magic' Johnson's vision and enjoy a strong partnership with the multicultural communities we serve."
With this "Job Listing" being posted on October 20th, well after the Terminations letters have been sent out, I would have to assume this statement is still true.
Isn't THAT "special"?

The difference is that the Magic Johnson operation is not a multi-level-marketing scheme or scam, nor is it a card mill. I understand it to be a legitimate franchise opportunity for those serious about travel consulting.

The Joystar opperation is neither MLM or card mill either.
With $10 Million in booking with RCCL you certainly can't call that a scheme.
There is clearly a double standard here, and I hope RCCL get's what's comin' to them.

I honestly don't know what to think any more. Does Royal Caribbean? This whole issue has turned into a complete farce. Nobody there really knows what the other is doing apparently. I don't care what they do from this point on...they won't be getting my business.

We just cancelled our booking a few days ago and will be now going with Carnival. Looks like the bigger will get bigger and the rest like RCCL will struggle behind.

I don't think I would have beleived this if I didn't see it with my own eyes. What an absolute slap in the face. Congrats Royal, you deserve everything you get from here on out...which if YTB has anything to say about it will be ziltch, nadda, nothing.

What about all the African Americans in YTB? What about all the Hispanic Americans in YTB? What about all the Asian Americans in YTB? I guess WE don't count.
How sad.

Well, well, well. If it walks like duck, talks like a duck and looks like a duck, it must be a....
Thanks once again Doug for being the eyes and ears on this whole mess. This proves one thing, they are starting to take notice of YTB!

This is a lot of revealing, great information and makes more sense now. However, I don't know how this will not hurt YTB's credibility. You know "word of mouth" can hurt or help :-). I have friends looking to join YTB to have a travel business...I can not even begin to know how to explain this to them?
Has Kim Sorenson had any progress getting an appointment?
Thanks for your info and hard work.

I would also like to address the comment about multilevel schems or scams. People who don't like multi-level marketing do not understand multi-level marketing and the power it has. Sure there are companies that have taken peoples money and ran. sure there are organizations out there whos sole purpose is to rip you off, but are there good police officers and bad? are there good doctors and bad? Are there good lawyers and bad? school teachers, etc. the problem with most peoples opinion of multilevel marketing is that it requires you to help someone else besides your self. It is a mentoring process that makes you help others to be successful before you can become sucessful and that's more than most people have the patients for. We participate in and use the term networking everyday whether it be our cellphones, fast food restaurants, fedex, all of whom use the basic principle of a pyramid structure to diversify their efforts to make more revenue. Of course you have to be careful of what compnay you get involved with but explore the concept individually and match that with a legitimate company and what do you have? A potential for residual wealth! I've seen it and am in the process of obtaining it! Stop getting in the way of yourself and open your eyes to the possibilties that this concept can bring. YTB is already the giant multivel market company that's about to franchise it's business model, keep watching!

The only reason people are supporting Magic Johnson is because of his name, and it is a legitimate franchise opportunity and guess what he's doing! He's networking! Make no mistake about it, he's getting RICHER because of the same concept you are speaking against(multi-level-marketing! He wants you and me to buy into his idea of travel and he will make money off of you because he's selling you a concept at the tune of about $5000.00 but because YTB currently is under $500.00 no one believes in it's validity, keep watching!

If the truth be known, Royal Caribbean regrets the move. They have been doing business with YTB for just about as long as YTB has been around, they even participated in the trade shows YTB promoted in Orlando, Fla. and also in California and they know what kind of training YTB is promoting and they know YTB booked somewhere around 14 million dollars in travel with them just last year. Cardmills don't book travel, but YTB booked almost a half a billion last year. Will the negative people slamming YTB open your eyes!
