Chiefs, YTB International, Inc. Launch Innovative Travel Partnership
I however have to make an exception at this point in time, and I like Herm Edwards, and Pittsburgh does kick KC’s butt when we do match up so, I’ll allow this exception.
For now.
For those looking for anything from the Chiefs themselves you can find it here.
I happen to be partial to the release by YTB and although I’ve been covered up, I’ll just post the release "as is" below.
Chiefs, YTB International, Inc. Launch Innovative Travel Partnership
Fans Already Book Travel Online - Now Chiefs' Travel Site Provides Competitive Rates and Allows Loyal Fans a Unique Opportunity to Make Dreams Come True
ST. LOUIS, May 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Kansas City Chiefs have launched an innovative travel partnership with YTB Travel Network, Inc. -- a wholly owned subsidiary of YTB International, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: YTBLA) ('YTB' or the 'Company'). YTB will administer the Chiefs on-line and fan-based travel. The Chiefs travel website, www.ChiefsTravel.com, will provide the Chiefs loyal fans with the opportunity to book all their business and personal travel while offering multiple entry opportunities to win Game Day Packages, a 'Suite Experience,' autographed memorabilia, the opportunity to become a 'Chief for a Day,' a cabin on a Chiefs celebrity cruise and more.

'Fan support at home and also on the road has been a vital ingredient in the success of this franchise over the last 20 years,' said Chiefs President Carl Peterson. 'Moreover, with this new travel program we can reward our fans for that support, as each time they book travel -- whether business or personal, related to Chiefs games or not -- they have the opportunity to win any number of special prizes from watching a preseason game from a luxury suite, becoming a Chiefs player for a day and enjoying other fan friendly experiences.'
The Chiefs Travel Web site offers competitive rates on the top airlines, thousands of hotels and many rental car companies, as well as a wide selection of offerings by leading vacation package providers and cruise lines. Site visitors will still enjoy the ability to earn airline miles, rental car and hotel points that they typically receive. In addition, the Chiefs will be offering celebrity cruises, featuring Pro Football Hall of Fame LB Bobby Bell, current players and special guests.
Also, the site offers options such as exclusive tour packages to China and Europe, limousine service, restaurant reservations, golf tee times and vacation packages, flowers, gift baskets, concert tickets, passports, airport parking and much more.
Each purchase will qualify a fan to enter the Chiefs giveaways.
'We at YTB and our outside representatives are excited by our partnership agreement with the Kansas City Chiefs and the opportunity to enhance the fans' travel experience throughout the year,' stated J. Kim Sorensen, President, and CEO of YTB Travel Network, Inc. 'There are Kansas City Chiefs season ticket holders across the country and Chiefs fans throughout the world. We welcome the opportunity to serve all the travel needs of every Chiefs fan and to further strengthen the Chiefs relationship with their loyal fans.'
With Coach and I being such HUGE Steelers fans, could they be next?

This YTB/KC Chiefs relationship is so cool and the Chiefs website is very impressive looking. I have a lot of family who are Chiefs fans. Kudos to Kim and Coach.

So, are they like an RTA now or what? Is this one of the company and non profit sites

I have three appointments to speak to people tonight and this is going to be fantastic news--talk about something that will blow them away! Travel for the Chiefs---how awesome! Thanks, Coach, Scott and Kim!

I tried the site to a couple of games. the fares were not as low as I found elsewhere, and do the chiefs really need more of my money? Uh no. This is a big yawn for a fan like myself.

Anon;
Don’t kid yourself. You’re not a Chiefs fan. If you were, you’d be supporting them not trashing them about needing your money. I know Chiefs fans and they’re on par with Pittsburgh, Philly, Denver, and New England fans.
You don’t match the MO.
Sorry.
From what little I’ve been able to gather, it’s my understanding that this is a Passport to Giving site, and from what I know about both YTB and the NFL, I would trust that it is. I was also told that this has been in the works for months. From the looks of this site, I would also agree. It’s a very cool looking site and I really like who it’s customized or fans.
This is Referral Marketing at its best. Set it up, let people know, and if the price is comparable, fans will buy. What a concept. (Actually give me an idea for a post.)
Fans have been doing it for years with Travelocity, Orbitz and Expedia. Now they can book with the Chiefs and most fans will feel they know the Chiefs better than the Roaming Gnome.
It’s just another example of how much the Travel Industry has changed from “Brick and Mortar” to “Click and Order”.

Wow!! Are you saying the KC Chiefs are a non profit organization in need of our donations? Will more $$$ bring them out of last place?
God help us all! A Patriots fan.

Thanks for sitting in judgement on my 'fanship', Doug. I didn't realize that YTb decided who is, and who isn't. Go chiefs, go with out YTB!

Why isn't there a link from the Chiefs official website?
Posted by Anonymous | Tuesday, May 13, 2008
Patriot;
If you knew anything about the NFL, you would know that the Chiefs will pick a charity, possibly The United Way which the League supports to donate the proceeds to. I’d look for a charity of their choice in the future.

“and do the chiefs really need more of my money?”
Sounds like lack of “fanship” to me, and in this case it’s not YTB who’s deciding, it’s me.
The Chiefs saw value in what we offer their fans, and since you don’t value either, how could you be a fan?
David;
I have a link in my post from the Chiefs Official NFL web site. There is a very cool video from Bobby Bell who played in the first Super Bowl.

The person you all should be thanking in your posts, is the first Chief inducted into the Hall of Fame, Bobby Bell. He's the main reason that YTB was able to negotiate with the Chiefs. Those others you give kudos to had no way to reach them without Bobby Bell.

I'm a Chiefs fan and season ticket holder. I don't like YTB so YOU don't consider me a Chief's fan? That's a laugh. who put you in charge of the fan club?
Posted by Anonymous | Wednesday, May 14, 2008
I heard that Bobby Bell is an RTA with YTB. Do you know if that's true?
Posted by Anonymous | Wednesday, May 14, 2008
Did you see that Travel Weekly put something up about this?
Posted by Anonymous | Wednesday, May 14, 2008
I have heard “rumor” that Bobby Bell is an RTA with YTB, but I can not confirm that he is at this time.
I do know that many NFL players are with YTB because of the Medical Benefits we offer our Directors and RTA’s who earn $25,000 in Travel Commissions Annually. There are many retired athletes with our company.
Tony;
Not liking YTB doesn’t have any relevance as a fan of anything. Quoting that “they get enough of my money” however in my book does.
If you’re afraid that you’re going to be recruited if you use the new Chiefs Travel site, you can relax, it aint gonna happen. Your team just gave you some pretty decent incentives to book with them.
Yes, I did see the Travel Weekly Post.

"This is Referral Marketing at its best. Set it up, let people know, and if the price is comparable, fans will buy."
Actually, Referral Marketing at its best would not be price dependent.

tony-
this is real simple, forget about the fact that it is "YTB". if you are a fan of the chiefs and you want to travel somewhere... anywhere... why not check the prices on the chiefstravel site? if they are more, use someone else, if they are the same or less, then why not use them and get the chance winning some of the prizes... is it possible to be a "chief for a day" or win tickets when you book with expedia or travelocity? you are (supposedly) a chiefs fan, as am i... why wouldn't i want to get the chance at meeting a football legend, like Bobby Bell... ESPECIALLY if it doesn't cost me anymore to do it!?!?
screw your head on, man.
