Another Resounding Thud? Not Quite...

I’ve been reviewing and reading some over the weekend on the internet about what’s happened concerning our company stock, YTBLA. If you didn’t know, the stock has made a significant rebound this past week, while at the same time YTB’s Annual Report is due to be out this coming week. (Monday, from what I understand.)

Over the last month or so, I’ve been just laughing at how so many people know so much about stock, especially YTB stock. Apparently, we were left for dead and the shares I own should have been cashed in to salvage what little was left about two weeks ago. The sudden drop and rise has something to do with the purchase of a Lear Jet and it’s not out of the question now that Coach, Scott and Kim have access to a private plane, they just may be ready to make a run for it.

Where DO they come up with this stuff?

Now that the stock has rebounded, simply because many took advantage of the sale price, there is nary a peep from those who have been so extremely vocal for the last month. I don’t know how you could do this on the internet, but if you could, you can hear a pin drop in most of the message boards right now that were so extremely active with doom, gloom and gloating.

Besides a claim from one of the finest “brainiacs” I’m enjoying right now claiming something about insider trading for a pump and dump the rest of the group has been busy scratching their heads this weekend.

How could this possibly happen?

What went wrong?

YTB was supposed to tank?

What’s it going to take to rid this industry of the evil YTB?

The hopes that suppliers would follow Royal Caribbean’s lead ended with a melodramatic thud. IATA didn’t even make YTB skip a beat as we’re still booking travel and getting paid on that travel, even expanded into Bermuda, Bahamas, and Canada. (Bought an Agency there too.) Now the company stock is looking to make a significant rebound with an Annual Report that could produce the third straight quarter for profits and growth. All it needs to reach is $3.33 to match the company high of last year before the 1:3 split.

So what is it that these critics, cynics, skeptics, and naysayers know that none of us in YTB seem to know?

Well, in nothing short of an epiphany I firmly believe I figured it out. More importantly, I figured out how to handle all the mud and negativity being thrown around concerning our fine company. It came to me while reading a new book, which I’ll tell you about later.

It’s chilling what’s happening now that I’ve been able to get clear.

The important thing right now is this. I’m expanding my horizons folks, I’m currently writing my first book on this very subject. What I’ve learned and how YOU can learn from my mistakes and insight. It’s witty, it’s thought provoking, and it hits the nail right on the head concerning what’s REALLY going on right now.

I’ve been working most of the morning on this, (the wee hours of the morning) and have just sent it off to a couple of team members who I’ve asked to write the forward for me. It just flowed right out of me. Pure inspiration!

My first book! How cool is that?!

Here’s the best part…It’s going to be my gift to you. I aint gonna charge a dime for it. One because I feel it’s an important issue, and two because I simply want to get your opinion if I should continue writing more books about my unique insight.

Stay tuned and be on the lookout either early am or after 5:00 Monday for the 2007 YTB Annual Report.

(Okay, you can be on the lookout for my new book too, but you’ll only find that HERE!)

So Much Better On-Line

My wife teases me that one of these days she’s going to find my pocket protector and inch thick wide rim glasses hidden somewhere around this house. She finds me sometimes late at night here in my recliner with laptop placed in front of me, fingers on the keyboard, eyes closed and happily snoring away. (At least that's what she tells me.)

I love being on the computer, it’s such a cool toy. The invention of the internet makes it even better with packets of information and resources available. Pick any subject of your choice, and it’s a mere search term and click away.

I use to post a lot more than I do now on message boards and forums. I found it a great resource to find new ideas, tools, and what excited and motivated people. I even found forums for debating, which I find stimulating and a ton of fun. I love reading profiles on Social Networking Forums, and
I have a few of my own but most are with limited participation. It’s not that I don’t like it; to the contrary I love it. It just takes up a vast amount of time that could be better used elsewhere.

I’ve observed, laughed with, and even laughed at a select group of the posters I’ve seen and even some I’ve had the pleasure to come in contact with. I wish I could tell you that they shall remain nameless in order to protect them but they’ve already made that choice for you and me.

The “anonymous” poster.

When I say “anonymous” I’m not just talking about those comments you see sprinkled all over this blog. It’s also the handles without any real name or identity attached to them.

“There is a powerful tension in our relationship to technology. We are excited by egalitarianism and anonymity, but we constantly fight for our identity.”
~ David Owens

Have you ever noticed how those without any true identity are always the ones who have absolutely no interest in learning anything? They appear to have this “I know that” disorder. (The three of the most dangerous words put together in any language.) Their purpose is to educate the rest of us on how we should view and live in this world. Their life always seems to be absolutely perfect as an added bonus for the rest of us.

Posting on-line can offer a certain anonymity that you really can’t find anywhere else. (
AA offers anonymity as well, but after close to 20 years of sobriety, I happen to like telling people I’ve been sober that long.) It’s not like the average person would be able to figure out your true identity if they wanted to. We use handles, such as “TravelPro” that we all recognize and call “posters” by. That’s the beauty of being a “poster”. We can be, do, and say anything we want without having to take any real lumps. It’s a great way to dodge any bullets coming back at you.

It seems for many, they can live out their fantasies, vent their anger, or start just about any rumor they want without being held accountable. It’s almost a perfect world for those who want to remain invisible when needed.

I have to laugh at how some posters relish in their anonymity. The more anonymous they are, usually the more straight forward they are, the more money they make, and the smarter they are than the rest of the group. They have all sorts of experience and education the rest of us don’t have, but yet can’t offer any proof or documentation…after all they’re anonymous.

I use to question…What is it about you that you have to hide? What kind of skeletons do you have in your closet? Why aren’t you good enough to offer up a real live person? What is so hard about being honest with people about who you are and what you do?

Maybe the truth of the matter is that we just like living out our dreams and fantasies on-line. It’s just too difficult for some to do that in real life, and cyberspace just happens to be the next best thing!

Who knew?

I was talking about anonymity with my sponsor last week and he told me to find a video that I would enjoy. If you know me, you know I’m a
70’s gen rock and roller, and I’m not a big fan of Country Music. Although my wife has warmed me up to the genre to make it a little more bearable.

I’m going to leave you for the weekend with this video from
Brad Paisley which I hope puts a smile on your face as it has mine. Don’t tell anyone, but I’ve also been caught singing it in the shower. And no you don't want to hear, I’ve been told Brad sings it much better than I do.

Enjoy your weekend, and don’t spend the entire time “Online”.

The Hokey Pokey...

I got to be honest I really had a hard time with this post. I know I promised to have this to you yesterday, I wrote, I re-wrote, I edited, I put it down, I came back, I just couldn’t find the right rhythm for this particular post.

Why?

Because what I’m about to tell you…well it sounds a little “hokey”. There, I said it and I can now move on.

Thanks everybody! Have a great day!

Actually, what I’m about to tell you is the very thing that helped me overcome this fear that I had about telling you in the first place.

Not only am I someone who is open to new opportunities, ideas, and thinking, I revel in always learning and growing as a human being. I’m always, reading, listening, taking seminars, trainings; I even hired a Success Coach at one point, who I’ll have to tell you about one of these days.

I told you that I was rereading Joe Vitale’s "The Key" a week or so ago.
For those who don’t know “Mr. Fire” he’s one of the teachers in the hit movie “The Secret” and I LOVE the way Joe writes. (This by the way is no accident.)

I picked up "The Key" because I wanted to try some new techniques for clearing out some of the limiting beliefs I was reading about on one of those “other blogs” and while I was doing my best to logically maneuver my way through all the negativity there, I knew some had to have rubbed off. It’s like my 4 year old son and dirt. There’s just no way the two can avoid each other.

Here’s the thing. I told myself I was going to let this all go. I told YOU I was going to let this all go. But the reality of the situation was John Frenaye and this blog of his was still swirling around in my head. It’s like a bad allergy or something, I just couldn’t shake it and I didn’t know why.

Logically, I knew it didn’t really matter. Logically, I knew that his views spoke more about him than it did about me. Logically, I knew that giving this negativity “energy” wasn’t the way to go. And finally, logically I knew there wasn’t a blessed thing I could really do about changing this mans limiting beliefs about our fine company and business model.

So why did it still matter?

I hate to break it to you, but I’ve been programmed to think a certain way.

Everything you and I believe has been taught to us by someone, or something else. There have been an excess of sources that have been working on our thoughts, emotions, and views our whole life. Parents, teachers, neighbors, bosses, even the media have been at work telling us how we should think and feel.

Let me give you an example.

I’m a “P.K.” AKA: Preachers Kid, which I also refer to as “T.O.” or Theological Offspring. (And yes, what you’ve heard about Preachers Kids, it’s all true. ;-P)

Growing up money was spiritual in nature. We would only have just enough to be comfortable. We never lacked for anything but we lived modestly, often in Parsonages or homes the church would supply for our family. I was taught not to be greedy but at the same time, I shouldn’t be fearful that we wouldn’t have enough to take care of ourselves and our needs.

Tithing was also very big, and even if we had to sacrifice something right now, the 10% given away will continue the promise of being able to have it returned.

I was also taught that money does not buy happiness. (That “love of money” thing we see in the Bible that I hear so much about these days.) Rich people are greedy and also for the most part very unhappy. I have a very wealthy Uncle who I was told was very unhappy. (Although, he never appeared that way to me.)

Two years ago most (not all) of my beliefs were blown right out of the water by a guy named T. Harv Ecker. If you’ve been reading this blog for any length of time, you’ve heard that name before. He’s the first person who started me on the right path that your outer world is simply a reflection of your inner world. (The Secret was another big turning point for me as well.)

I had heard a lot of this before, from books and tapes that I’ve had for years. My copy of "Think and Grow Rich" for example must be at least 20 years old. However, we’ve all heard this “Kool-aid” line before…

“When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.”

I never really "listened" until I attended the Millionaire Mind Intensive two years ago when Harv taught me that a lot of the way I view this world, especially about money, were, well...just plain wrong. These views or beliefs were keeping me from becoming successful. One of the things it helped me with was reprogramming my views and beliefs so that I could become successful.

Lack of money isn’t a problem, it’s a symptom. A symptom of limiting, false beliefs we have about how to make it and how to keep it. I had tremendous breakthroughs over that weekend.

But that was just a weekend. Sure I was given tools and homework to do for the next 90 days, which helped tremendously, but what about other problems, other issues that have come up since then? Namely the John’s of the world who try to bring me back to a way of life and a though process that I tried once before, didn’t want any longer, and knew didn't hold value. (Been there, done that, got the T-shirt.)

Frankly, that type of thinking and mentality stinks.

Sure, I could sign up for another one of Harv’s programs, and I probably will this summer, but I wanted to do something about it now, and the tried and true tools that I had at my disposal didn’t seem to offer any relief or answers until I picked up and looked at a few of Joe Vitale’s clearing methods in his new book.

There was one in particualar that I was finally willing to try, and it just so happens that it’s that “hokey one” I told you about at the beginning of all this.

Joe had introduced me once again to a very inspiring and fun guy by the name of Brad Yates. I met Brad once before through an EFT Master named Carol Look about a year ago. I had listened to some of the teleseminars, read some articles, and thought all this was very nice, but at the time really wasn’t willing to try it because life was going very well and I thought I had all the tools I needed.

EFT is based on the ancient Chinese technique of Acupuncture, and EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique. Now, I’ve never tried Acupuncture because needles and I really don’t get along. (One of those fears that EFT could probably help with?) But I loosely understood that Acupuncture has neurological properties of meridians and acupuncture points to help alleviate many different symptoms.

EFT however is used to help clear out some of the limiting beliefs and baggage that is blocking me from moving forward.

This post for example.

I know that some will view this as nothing but a hoax, something silly, and I’m crazy for even promoting such an idea. I also know that some have a problem with people promoting things, no matter how much value it holds for them or others. I can't deny that I’m feeling much better however, I’m less stressed, and the tennis match that had been playing in my head concerning letting our Traditionalist go have been reduced to almost nothing. I can now go to John’s blog, read it, and not have any emotional attachment either way about what this man or others think. I don’t own their problems or limiting beliefs.

They are free to think that YTB will eventually collapse because we will run out of people. Yet I know there hasn’t been one example of that ever happening, so why own it?

I know they think the $226 Million are “fees” and not “Travel Sales” and yet Travel Weekly wouldn’t even consider “fees”, so why own it?

I know that they have a huge problem with all the posts on Craig’s Lists, yet I’m willing to bet that none of them even advertise there, so why own it?

I know that they think Coach, Scott and Kim will eventually leave us with the Millions they have made off our backs. Yet they’ve been with two companies in close to 30 years, and the only reason Coach left AL Williams is because he wanted to retire. So why own it?

Fear is nothing more than False Evidence Appearing Real, and you can eliminate the emotional charge of this false evidence by using EFT.

If your gut is telling you that this is right for you, like it is for me, the tennis match that is playing in your head is keeping you from achieving your goals. You need to clear it in order to move forward. It may not be EFT for you, but it’s been doing wonders for me.

I recently bought a program from both Brad and Joe called
Money Beyond Belief that has me really stoked. I’ve been listening to some of the calls that came with this and it’s not only very comical, but it’s amazing how I’ve felt just after using EFT. I can’t describe it, but it’s an amazing feeling of relief, calm, and inner peace that I just can’t put into words. It also gives quite a buzz, or tingling over my entire body. You literally feel the energy.

By the way, you’re free to write this off as nothing more than some hokey program. EFT helped me with letting that go too. You’re free to call pr post with someone who cares about your own limiting beliefs.

I’ve got to go have an amazing day now…

Thanks for stopping by, and remember, if you’re reading this right now, there are no accidents in this universe of ours.

Think about it and if you feel lead to,
go buy the program.

On a Scale of 1-10...

I don’t know about you, but I had a REALLY good weekend. Part of it of course was the season and having my kids home an extra day to enjoy. My wife also cooked up a really nice Sunday dinner which in turn provided for a really good afternoon nap. (I never nap, but maybe once or twice a year, so that is a special treat for me.)

Part of this “feel good” mentality I’ve been experiencing lately is what I’ve been feeding my mind. Now that I’ve decided to let the Traditionalists argue among themselves over whom, (Kim, Scott or Coach) goes to the bathroom more, life is a lot less stressful. I just haven’t had any desire to discuss such issues.

Don’t get me wrong. There was a huge issue for Traditionalist totally unrelated to our industry they warned me to be fearful of, which was responded to by hitting the “delete” button on the computer.

I’ve been able to allow them to live the way they choose, without feeling any need to force my beliefs on them.

It’s all about choice.

So why is it that I can let this all go, while others seem to have a tremendous amount of difficulty?

-Writing affirmations down on notecards?

-Thinking "positive" thoughts?
-Trying to "want it" more?
-Setting goal... after goal... after goal... after goal...?
-Assuming that "massive action" will solve everything?
-Working harder?

None of the above really. (Although, some are viable tools.) I simply let go of their beliefs.

If I told you that you had purple skin, you’d look at me like I’m nuts right? You’d look at your skin and think to yourself, “Where did you come up with that? Everyone knows my skin isn’t purple!”

It’s such a ridiculous notion that it’s really not worth arguing about is it? Nor would you take any ownership in such an outrageous claim. You can see with your own two eyes and can confirm any time you wanted what color your skin is.

So why do we in YTB want to take ownership of some of the mud being thrown up? Come on, you know what I’m talking about, I know you do. I’ve done it. You’ve done it. We’ve all done it at one point or another.

I remember when I first heard this myth that our $226 Million in Travel Weekly were “fees” and not “travel sales”. To be honest, I was livid. I mean it REALLY upset me. Here was our first chance to have a viable third party confirm that YTB does sell Travel, and I see this spin about numbers being “fees”.

How dare they!

You look at the Travel Weekly publication, you look at all the documentation provided from many different sources, and yet it pushed a button for me. Why?

Because the emotion is deeper than that, they’ve been living below the surface. You’re inner world creates your outer world. Just like the roots of all the trees that are starting to bud right now. Where did you think that nourishment came from?

Below the surface.

What’s been shoved down our throats by some is that Network Marketing is bad. We’re supposed to be crooks who take advantage of people, and we have this unattainable dream that we can actually make money doing this. It goes against the conventional, the traditional, and we are changing the way things have always been done. These beliefs are being promoted by those who have no or very little experience in Network Marketing themselves while my experience has been completely the opposite.

You can argue all you want. You can read publication after publication, book after book, listen to tape after tape, call after call of “feel good” stuff, but it won’t amount to much until you remove the underlying limiting beliefs you have inside that head of yours.

I’m going to ask a question, that only you can answer, and you’re free to keep this a secret if you’d like.

All this negative attention YTB has been getting bothers you right? What kind of feelings does it bring up for you? Frustration, anger, resentment, limited self worth, doubt, FEAR.

The good news is, that’s what it’s designed to do. All this comes from “ego” and “ego” is designed to protect us, to help us feel safe and secure.

I’m not going to give you the answer just yet. I want you to think about this for a while. I want you to sit with these emotions, and I also want to give you permission to feel any way you care to about all this.

It’s neither right, or wrong at this point, they are yours, but I want you to think about how you feel about all this. Sit with it for just a day.

Write it all down if you’d like. Write down all the things you don’t like, how awful this all feels.

Just do me two favors.

One, don’t take this out on anyone and two come back tomorrow to see how you can start letting this all go.

The answer will surprise you, but it’s also based on a very old technique that’s been around for centuries.

What’s even cooler is that this technique can be used for any limiting belief or problem. I even saw a television show last night on it on TLC. But I’ll fill you in on that tomorrow.

For now, on a scale of 1-10 how would you rate how you feel about all this? One being nothing, and Ten being extremely charged about all these issues.

The higher the number, the more reason to check back tomorrow.

The Easter Egg Hunt...

I have two young kids, who admittedly are the most adorable, cutest kids on the face of this earth. My daughter (AKA: Schmoopsie-Pooh) is in Kindergarten this year, and my son (AKA: Googley-Bear) is in Pre-K. They at the age now that Easter Egg hunting is a BIG thing, and every year, I can’t wait till they grow out of it because when they eat candy, they both just run around the house in circles screaming from the sugar rush they get. (Still cute, but one can only take so much.)

It’s also a time of year when I see a perfect example of why we as adults can be so screwed up in our thinking and beliefs. I’ve told you before that I’m a big Neal Boortz fan, and still listen to him from time to time when in the car. One of his favorite rants is our school system is programming false beliefs in our children, and how dumb the future of America will be if we as parents continue to let the Government educate our children. In this particular example however, I found that it doesn’t matter if it’s public or private school.

For the last couple of years, while the kids have enjoyed the Easter egg hunt, after everyone has found all the eggs, the teachers collect the baskets outside the school room; have the kids work on another project inside the class while someone else divides all the eggs equally among all the kids’ baskets. So if Johnny went out and hustled and collected 30 eggs for his basket, most of his eggs are taken away and given to Sara who was only able to find 1 egg. When it’s time to go home, all the kids have the exact same number of eggs in their baskets.

Now I know some of you might not think this is no big deal, and some might even think it’s the “fair” thing to do. They’re kids and they don’t know the difference right?

Believe it or not, some adults carry this programming that we must divide everything up equally among the rest of the group into our adulthood. I really never noticed it before until I got into YTB some years ago and started posting on a board called Scam.com. There was a guy on there that swore up and down that you have to take the total number of RTA’s (what ever number that may be at the time) and divide the total number of commissions found on the SEC reports (which represented numbers months before all the RTA’s were even in YTB) and the number he came up with doomed everyone in YTB to making something like $67 per RTA for the entire year. (By the way, if I remember correctly, he was using quarterly numbers for his yearly average.)

This poor guy was one of the kids who busted his tail to fill his Easter Egg Basket every year, only to find that most of his eggs were given to the other children in the class, and this programming carried into his adult life.

What’s even more disheartening is that after being shown how someone who sells Travel in YTB can actually keep all the commissions they make in YTB this character disappeared for a while, only to come back as someone else, (another screen name) to pitch the exact same lame math again.

Is it any wonder I became bored with that board?

I’ve worked in sales for a long time, and I’ve never known any Corporation who takes everyone’s sales, puts them together and then divides them up equally among all the sales people. (Would have been nice when I worked “part time” at Gateway all those years ago…but that’s ancient history at this point.) Can you imagine Bill Gates telling Wal-Mart that he needs to collect all the Office 2007 and Windows Vista revenue to divide it up equally with Best Buy and Circuit City? Most of you couldn’t and would think that’s silly, while at the same time, this notion that everyone is doomed to making just $67 a year in commissions isn’t.

Fact of the matter is, most people are programmed to think this way from a very early age, and this Easter egg hunt example is just one small piece of the puzzle in regards to why so many people have such limiting, dysfunctional beliefs about prosperity and money. I’ve mentioned before about T. Harv Ecker and his book “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” and after reading his book, that’s when I first started to evaluate and think about my own beliefs. After attending his Millionaire Mind Intensive some years ago, that’s were I truly learned how to literally start reprogramming all the old limiting beliefs I once had. (It’s still a work in progress, and I’ll share some of my tools with you on a later post.)

What’s scary for me is that I had no idea that these were in fact limiting beliefs. I thought I was normal and found out that normal or average…well…it stinks.

I need to find a file somewhere in this vast space we call the internet, and have you take a test on money and it’s beliefs. I found it some time ago and can’t seem to locate it right now. My kids will be up soon and I promised I’d spend the day with them. (It’s Good Friday and they have the day off of school.)

Let’s not worry ourselves about limits right now, and I want you to enjoy a Happy and prosperous Easter. I love this time of year, and I just wanted to let you know that right around the corner are some tools and keys so make sure you come back for the Easter Egg I have for you some time next week. I’m going to enjoy my family for the weekend.

I promise there will be enough to go around for everyone!

A Kick-Butt Approach to a Better Life...

It’s been more than a year now since I was first introduced to a comedian named Larry Winget. Just by the looks of him you can certainly tell that he’s…well, not normal.

Now that I’ve recognized my current circumstances, taken responsibility for them, and am finding a plethora of ways to change them for the better, it’s no surprise that Larry popped back up in my life again. I’ve noticed a number of improvements to his web site, and that
he’s become quite popular since the last time I saw him. (Although I did see him on an MSNBC financial show that I can’t recall the name of. I don’t watch much TV these days.)

One of the main themes for our team this year, Paradise Network, is “Keep the main thing, the main thing”. (Or should I say “Glasses of Kool-aid poured?” ;-P) I got to thinking about that motto, and while I agree that this is a much more kinder, gentler way of telling everyone to stay focused on building our YTB business, for me, I kind of like Larry’s glass of Kook-aid better. Like the other catch phrase, “Keep the main thing, the main thing”, Larry basically says the same thing, (in my opinion) but with an edge that I think everyone in the Travel Industry could use right now. Larry calls it “a speech”, and based on his popularity right now, I can see how he could get paid a lot of money for making this speech. However, you won’t even need to sit down in order to hear this speech before it’s over.

In fact, it’s so simple, that
I’ve been able to memorize his speech, and I’ve taken it to heart.

Here goes….

“Shut up. Quit whining. Get a life!”

For those of you who haven’t heard this yet, it may offend you. If it has struck a nerve, rest assured, this speech applies to you. But there is hope and a way to calm the resentment, anger, or offensive nature of this speech. While Larry also refers to the exercise I’m about to mention, which I’ve been doing it for years, and still need to from time to time, (most recently within the past week or so) Larry has a bit more edge in his wording. It’s quite liberating by taking the weight of the world off your shoulders, while giving way and allowing for room to find solutions to fix your current situation instead of wallowing in all the problems of the world. While some of my other mentors have a different way of wording this, I think Larry happens to put if very well, and I suggest you try this word for word.

Go find the closest mirror, preferably in a bathroom somewhere that can show your entire upper body when doing this so you can get the full effect. Look that person you see in the mirror dead in the eye and say the following. “You know, the situation your in right now…is your own damn fault.” (Then watch his or her reaction. It’s a stitch!)

I haven’t always liked taking personal responsibility for my situation, and to a degree, I still don’t. I’m working on this too. Besides, it’s much easier to blame someone or something else. I believe that’s what we’ve been programmed to do. But the bottom line for everyone who is upset, angry, or disappointed about what’s going on in our industry right now be it YTB or Traditionalist, the real problem is you. You are the only person you have complete control over, no one else. Nothing has meaning except for the meaning that you give it. Like it or not, you put whatever tag your finding on Network Marketers, Traditionalists, or anyone else for that matter.

The only person I can control is Doug. The only person responsible for my situation is Doug. The only reason I experience failure or success is because of what Doug thinks about and acts upon. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Focusing on problems only creates more problems. Take a look at the
long list of problems I focused on, and tell me that I don’t aquire a problem that I didn't have before. When I attempted to take ownership of someone else’s problems, it’s no surprise that these issues suddenly became my own with a hoard of other problems piled on to boot. It limited my thinking, and my time by focusing on what I’ve always been told not to do and that’s buying into narrow minded, negative thinking and actions.

I don’t think Larry’s message or tone is for everyone. Not everyone needs to be slapped upside the back of the head like Larry tries to do. It is however the same message I’ve been reading and studying for years from other teachers and mentors that I admire and try to model. (You can find a pictures of most of them to the right.) Larry has obviously created a level of success that most of us only dream about, and because he has, his message, no matter how raw or offensive it is to some, still has merit.

Think about it and try it, just for today and see how it goes.

Shut up. Quit whining. And get a life for just one day and see how it goes. You may surprise yourself.

Your Lucky Day...

Now that my focus has shifted back to a more positive course of thinking and action, I wanted to offer up something for the members of YTB. I’ve been working very closely with my immediate Director, Tim and Georgia Dominey. At the beginning of the year, Tim asked me to start a weekly and monthly Newsletter for his team. It’s something I’ve been doing for my team for some time, and when Tim asked me to start one for his team, I wanted to take the program and content to a whole new level.

What has evolved over the last few months has been something that I’m very proud of and the team members who have been receiving these Newsletters have responded with compliment after compliment. If you haven’t guessed by now, I love to write and there certainly hasn’t been any shortage of information to write about. What started as a monthly newsletter a year or so ago to a select few of my team, has grown to a weekly update of YTB news and events, complete with a "7 Day Quick Start Guide" to get your YTB business started off on the right track, bi-monthly recorded conference calls, weekly and monthly updates on upgrades, enhancements, awards, trainings and events that nobody in YTB should miss.

I’ve always been taught, even from a very early age, that I should always be willing to give of my time, talent, and money. Many of my courses, seminars, and mentors currently have also instilled this believe that what I give out, will be returned to me 10 fold.

Therefore, I am going to open up my Newsletter company wide for any member of YTB. It is my hope that you will find the information I provide not only informative, but that you also see this as a valuable tool for new team members to learn how to build and work their YTB business the right way.

I do have one request of you when doing this, and that is that you provide your YTB Marketing web site for verification purposes when submitting your information. I am only asking you of this because I want to limit this information to YTB Reps and RTA’s only. Your information will not be shared, and will only be used to verify your YTB status with the company. This is also a “double opt-in” type Newsletter, so you’ll be sent an e-mail via the e-mail address you provide to confirm you want this Newsletter.

If you’ve been enjoying the documentation and links provided concerning the industry as a whole, you’re going to LOVE what I have for you about our company!

You can
subscribe to my weekly Newsletter here
. (And we’ll see you on the other side!)

PS - Happy St. Patricks Day! ;-P

Thanks For Sharing...

I’ve gotten several comments, private e-mails, and even some phone calls concerning my falling out with John Frenaye. It appears that I’m now the brunt of some criticism and poking which I will take complete responsibility for. I’ve released the need to blame, complain, or justify my current situation. Most people apparently would want to worry and obsess about what is going on with a company that they aren’t even involved with. About all I can say at this point is this...

“Thanks for sharing”.

The Spin Machine known as “
MLM’s and Travel: A Bad Mix” has just gotten way too low for my intellectual level. I had mentioned before how comments and questions were merely thrown out to cast doubt and spread rumor about our company. It’s a trick and tactic Anti-MLM Zealots use to keep us in YTB on our toes and busy deflecting and defending nothing more than lies and rumors started by them.

These tactics became way too obvious for me when accusations were thrown up concerning our Carnival Pinnacle Awards. The spin was made that YTB was not only not awarded the Pinnacle but the question was all of the sudden thrown out concerning the Awards dating back some 3 years. When I posted published pictures dating back to April of 2005 and another set of pictures from the 2007 National Convention and recalled more than 12,000 witnesses for our most current award, the blatant way these pictures were simply ignored and the way accusations were pointed back in my direction just got a little too childish for my taste.

The final straw for me was when John tried to defend his position by twisting words to insinuate that I was calling a High Level Executive with Carnival a liar. That’s when an image formed in my head and I just called a spade a spade and made it known in no uncertain terms that I was insinuating that it was John Frenaye who was the liar.

What a waste of my valuable time, talent and energy.

I now have to let this go and trust that like everything else that’s been thrown out there to cast doubt and rumor will eventually come to light and set the record straight. Truth always had a way of doing this with our company, and I believe it’s partly due to Coach and his relationship with his Higher Power.

An RTA forwarded me an e-mail from Ann Sedgewick (the one in the two sets of pictures with Kim Sorensen.)

YTB was presented with Carnival's Pinnacle Award for the years 2005, 2006 and 2007. (The awards that were presented in February 2008 were for 2007).

We gave YTB their award in October 2007, presented by Vicki Freed. We actually gave it a little earlier than normal because of the FUNSHINE event in Orlando and so many RTA's in attendance. Normally, it would not have been presented until February.

Thanks,

Ann N. Sedgwick

Business Development Director
Carnival Cruise Lines
3655 N.W. 87th Ave. Miami, FL. 33178-2428

Based on the font and Ann’s signature in the e-mail which matches all the e-mails I get from her, it’s authentic. I would imagine once the Home Office renovation is complete, all these awards will be prominently displayed. If anyone would like to invite our Traditionalists to a Red Carpet Day to take their own pictures, feel free.

One other note that I found out yesterday as well is that YTB will need another case for Apple Vacations. Business Development Director Sandy Meyer made a special stop at the YTB Edwardsville office to present YTB with the Platinum Apple Award for 2007. Our second year in a row, and an upgrade from Gold for 2006.

I don’t know what it’s going to take to help give some people this clue they need to help them with their perception of YTB and MLM’s. No matter what we do, no matter where we are ranked, no matter how many Travel Awards we have, I just get the feeling someone, somewhere will say “It’s just not good enough”.

I pulled out and am re-reading Joe Vitale’s "
The Key" currently. I remembered a quote from my first reading concerning “The Law of Attraction” that I just loved. Many naysayers will tell you that “The Law of Attraction” doesn’t work. It’s all a bunch of hocus pocus. That’s like saying “The Law of Gravity” doesn’t work simply because the ball you dropped from the roof didn’t hit your intended target or mark. I attracted these comments and accusations towards me just as sure as the ball hit the ground, but neither hit exactly where I wanted it to hit.

This experience has been a real life lesson for me with our Traditionalist. Here I am trying to attract people who for a myriad of reasons want to join a home based business or YTB and I’m directing my attention at a blog and people who absolutely detest the model, founders and company. On the other side of the fence, our Traditionalists are blaming, complaining, and condemning how unprofessional, untrained, and classless YTB is, and what do you imagine they find more of? What you focus on expands and there is no way to get around that. (Believe me, I’ve tried.)

A couple years ago I read the book "
Secrets of the Millionaire Mind ". I also participated in hisMillionaire Mind Intensive” twice, once as a participant, and once as a volunteer. I remember reading some of the testimonials before I went to the first seminar and was myself skeptical about just how good this program was touted as being. (Nothing can be THAT good...right?) It was one of the most remarkable weekends I ever experienced and it was no mistake that less than a month later I qualified for Coach’s Corner and was heading for Director before I got my attention and focus distracted by our Traditionalists last October.

A couple of things I want to share with you that I learned. One, I often hear that we in MLM have been “Brain Washed”, and when I hear that, I think of two words, “Thank God”. Yes, my mind has been washed of all the limiting, false, negative, self defeating beliefs that I have been told my whole life. My mind has been cleansed and I make no apologies for allowing others to help me do that. (Including Harv Ecker and Joe Vitale.)

I can think of another “cleansing” for some of our Traditionalist, but that’s another topic and I think there may be one or more MLM’s out there that can provide the product I’m thinking of to help with the constipation they have concerning our business model.

Two, fear is nothing more than False Evidence Appearing Real. Things are never quite as bad as everyone makes them out to be. Look at what was being said about Royal Caribbean and the onslaught of suppliers that were going to cut off YTB. Look at how loosing IATA hasn’t affected your ability to sell or get paid on Travel. All that hoopla with doom and gloom 5 or 6 months ago, and yes, I fell for it too. Looking at YTB today with some 50,000 new RTA’s, our expansion into Canada and the Caribbean, other suppliers like Carnival and Trafalgar coming to bat for us, it looks to me like YTB is stronger than ever.

I can’t wait for June 23rd when the 2008 Travel Weekly Power Rankings come out to see how far YTB climbed up the list.

My final point is this for those of you in YTB. I had a personal conversation with Kim Sorensen a few months back. He told me that when he, Coach, and Scott were building AL Williams back in the 80’s, they were going through the same issues YTB is having right now. Traditional Insurance Agents were saying and doing the same things Traditional Travel Agents are doing to YTB right now. The similarities are remarkable. While I have not read this book in it’s entirety but I did find a chapter which I think everyone in YTB
needs to read Chapter 15 to help put our current situation into perspective, and how we can learn from the lessons of the past.

In closing, I don’t know how much I will be posting for the time being. I have a number of things I need to do for me, including clearing and cleansing many of these limiting believes that Traditionalists are trying to shove down my throat. I’ve overcome this garbage before, and
have been bitten by snakes many times before. Sometimes it can be difficult to step on their heads when they’ve got them buried in the sand.

The World As I See It

At this point in time, I’ve pretty much been told to give up on actually helping our Traditionalists learn anything about YTB. It’s become evident that they already know all they need to know about our founders, our model, and our people. I have been informed by those that they have completely missed any points I’ve made concerning these questions because for the last two months "I have been regurgitating the same old crap and towing the same old YTB line". When stumped, I simply toss in some inane story or references some motivational guru. It’s called “Deflection 102”. Pre-requisite “Smoke and Mirrors 101”.

Whatever.

What John doesn't like is that I've acctually held him accountable for his comments. Arrogance never likes to be corrected, and instead of admiting that he and others have missed many marks, they choose to ignore it. As the old saying goes, "You can pay me now, or you can pay me later." Ignoring what YTB is doing to the Travel Industry won't make it go away. And I beleive they know that based on the daily posts and spin.

So it appears that I’m no longer doing this for them. I’m doing this for YTB. Nice to know they did get that as most of my comments are directed to those in YTB and Network Marketing not our Traditionalist. Those of us who love this company the way I do need to have the proper documentation in place to know that the accusations being thrown at us right now are nothing more than spit balls and mud.

Every move YTB makes at this point is evaluated and commented on, often within minutes of its initial release by the company from those that oppose us. I found out for example that YTB purchased Sunrise Travel Services in Canada via our Traditionalists, of course with their own spin attached to it, and they also seem to be more than a little miffed at the fact that YTB now has their own Learjet 35A “Executive Jet” to fly all over the country in.

While YTB keeps growing and expanding, the mud is quickly thrown up on the wall to try to distract everyone.

I find it interesting that when a question comes from the other side, it’s also ignored. Apparently, we don’t have a right to ask questions. Of course that puts us in control of the conversation, and “control” is what this game is all about. This company is spreading and growing at a very rapid pace right now, and is just now starting to hit its momentum phase of its existence. What they thought was going to crush the company, such as IATA and Royal Caribbean has in fact had very little effect in slowing the company down.

The initial plan of attack concerning suppliers, associations, and even attempting to get Federal and State Agencies involved (see below) isn’t working so they’ve resorted to more and more spin, and all they are left with is trashing yours truly with some garbage that I’m not only struggling but have also commented that I need to converse with my wife 11 years why I’m impotent.

Pure "Class" from those Traditionalists don’t you think?

If they don't think I've been able to rise to the occasion, I'm okay with that. I don’t need the aggravation from mindless chatter from bitter, angry, negative bickering and spin. It's unproductive and since I've been less focused on them and more focused on YTB, things actually look a whole lot better from where I sit.

While our Traditionalist would like you to believe they are in control, they have in fact lost complete control of an industry they once held very close and dear. I can’t blame many of them for being bitter and angry. They’ve invested years of training, education, time, blood, sweat and tears into a profession they love and respect. I actually believe that the services and time spent in this industry is not only admirable but to be commended.

Albert Einstein wrote in his book “The World As I See It”, “The most important decision we ever make is whether we believe we live in a friendly universe or a hostile universe.

It's become clear who lives in a hostile world, and who lives in a friendly world. While the “good old days” are long gone and some have done very well for themselves in adapting and changing with this industry, we have others who simply want to hang on to a long lost art form that has obviously changed without their permission or desires.

Which brings us to the next two questions in our LOOOOOOOOONG list of control questions from the Traditionalists.

Here is what we’ve gone over so far and if you’ve been following along with this laborious chore.

Question #1 - Why a compensation plan takes 12 pages to define?

Question #2 - How YTB arrived at $226 Million in travel sold for 2006. (Still waiting.)

Question #3 - Why so little of the "training" at the annual convention was for travel. (OK, YTB only believes in training at other meetings. We can let this one go.)

Question #4 - How nearly 150,000 RTAs can pay in the course of 9 months $79 million dollars in website sales, fees, and training; and receive $9.3 million in return. (This is huge...anyone?)

Question #5 - And for those that say I don't get the math, I did not learn how nearly 150,000 people paid in $79 million dollars and only got $64 million in return. (Hello? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?)

Question #6 - Why it is a good thing to have your top executives selling off stock. (There were no takers on this one, so I am gonna assume that it probably is NOT a good thing as everyone initially thought.)

Question #7 - Why a 3:1 split was a good deal when two of the three shares are worthless. (Thanks to Doug for the most reasonable explanation of this. The split may have been a good deal but with the current value of the stock, it is anyone's guess.)

Question #8 - Why employees at YTB could not sell me a cruise on November 9th. (Still no answer on this one yet other than they don’t do anything till an RTA sells it. Well, the YTB site said to call them. Coach in an interview was touting how the res center is all staffed with professional agents. So, why is it that they cannot sell me a cruise, and how is it that they do not know that cruises do not depart from Phoenix?)

Question #9 - Why when presented with facts and figures, the argument mysteriously turns to "you don't understand". (This is another one that we will just have to say...because that is the way it is.)

Question #10 - How many RTAs drop out in a month...a year..... (This number I fear will NEVER be known.)

Question #11 - How long does an RTA continue to pay the fee before canceling? (Answered. They continue to pay as long as YTB continues to charge them and they jump through the hoops to get them to stop.)

Question #12 - How it is a misunderstanding with IATAN and Royal Caribbean. (Answered. It apparently was NOT a misunderstanding and RCCL called a spade a spade and it is what it is. YTB has moved on and said they would never do business with RCCL again.)

Question #13 - How the air gets booked -- through a YTB ARC number or a Travelocity number. (This is the biggie. No answer other than the errant dribble from a director about it being a cruise misunderstanding. When a RTA sells an airline ticket, who's ARC number does the sale get attributed to when processing via IAR...is it a YTB number or a Travelocity number?)

Question #14 - The number of RTAs and Reps that actually comply with local business licensing regulations. (We will let this one go. They cannot control what they say, or their press releases, so why would I be so naive as to think they could control that they abide buy any local laws and statutes? I am going to assume that most attempt to fly under the radar here. In all honesty, I probably would as well. Why invest more money being bonded and registered and in compliance when you are seeing so little in return? It can always be written off as a hobby rather than a business I suppose...hmmmm imagine that...a hobby??)

Question #15 - The number of RTAs that comply with the Seller of Travel laws in the states that have them. (See answer to question above.)

I wanted to combine these two questions for two reasons. One they are related, and two, this is a perfect example of how mud is simply throw up without regard to validity or truth. Take a small sampling of YTB and throw a huge brush over the entire company.

John has no clue, nor do I for that matter how many states have local statues and laws that require licensing. My county for example simply requires a “Special Use Permit” for my home based business. Most States and Counties from the research I’ve done simply want to collect a fee and make sure that you, as a home based business, will not be doing any manufacturing, have employees, or produce heavy stream of customers moving in and out of your premises. As long as the business is run out of your home, and generally fall within the guidelines of the “Special Use Permit”, you should be good to go. You should however, check with your local municipality to see what, if any regulations apply to you.

In regards to the Seller of Travel Laws that John is so concerned about, I did find a nice link which gives a very good general overview of why Seller of Travel Laws exist and what states require them. You will note that all States that require SOT’s are listed at the bottom of all YTB Booking Engines. As long as the travel is booked by the customer from these sites, it is my understanding that YTB and the RTA involved conforms with all SOT’s. If however an RTA does booking direct without the use of the booking engine, the RTA must register their own SOT.

Speaking of SOT’s and Licensing, I’ve been asking John about an update on Rhode Island.

Back in November, John caught wind that Rhode Island is the only state in the country that actually requires a “Travel Agent License”. Being the good “Traditionalist” and “Investigative Journalist” that he is, decided to “blow the whistle” on YTB for not complying with what he believed to be an obvious oversight concerning licensing regulations. You may also “note” that John’s source was not all that reliable, and he had to do some back peddling concerning his initial post. Big surprise there huh?

In a follow up post, John also commented that he wasn’t quite sure what the issue was, but he was certain that there is in fact an issue. He then blamed typical Government run around for not answering his intended question and accusation. (Blaming others...another big surprise.)

I’ve also been following this issue and actually spoke with Kim Sorensen directly about this very subject the very day that this mud was thrown up on the wall. I’ve asked both John and other Traditionalists repeatedly about this issue in recent weeks concerning Rhode Island. I’ve gotten very little response if any concerning answers. Remember, my views and comments don’t count, and I’m either ignored, or cast off as “The Spin Doctor” from the other side. All they claim to know is that the issue is still being worked on.

What our Traditionalist don’t want you to know is that there has been a response from Rhode Island concerning “Travel Agent Licensing” and I think the response is typical of what they have been running up against for the last several months.

And that response is…“Pfft, so what?”

The issue of Bonding and Licensing in Rhode Island is so important to both the State and the industry that the law which requires it should be repealed by years end. All that work, all that fuss, all the spin and mud thrown up that YTB is breaking the law comes down to the State looking at the issue and finding a way to save not only themselves money, but also save what’s left of the Traditionalist in the State a ton of money.

Thanks to John’s efforts both Richard Berstein, executive counsel for the department, and Michael Marques, the department's director, concluded it was time to eliminate agency licensing and bonding "for a myriad of reasons," including the dwindling number of agencies in the state. While Traditionalists would like you to believe that business is booming Rhode Island looked at the stats they have and found a dramatic decline in the number of travel agencies, by about 40% in the last five years, leaving only 80 Agencies left in the entire state.

But what about John’s spin that YTB operates in Rhode Island? YTB does have literally hundreds of YTB RTA’s doing business as Referring Travel Agents in the state. Wouldn’t that add additional revenue to the States $1 Billion deficit?

Apparently, according to Richard Berstein, most states don’t require such licensing and bonding and they are huge competitors for the Agencies that reside in Rhode Island. This would include web sites. (A YTB web site?)

The internet changes things folks. Nancy McAdams, owner of Anchor Travel in Pawtucket, said getting rid of the law would be "good news. ... It is a big chunk of money" to buy the bond and pay licensing fees for employees as well as the agency. She said, "a lot of people from other states are selling in Rhode Island and are probably not licensed." and she’s probably right. I could do a Google search and find Seashore Travel in Florida or Farnesi Travel in New Jersey just as easily with the same product price and service. (All Powered by Online Agency) But Nancy has to pay $10,000 in bonding and Licensing per Agent because her office resides in Rhode Island.

Now I know that our Traditionalists on the other side are going to point out the Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce strongly opposes repeal, which is probably why I haven’t seen a post on “Rhode Island – Resolved” as yet. If the governor's budget is accepted in the statehouse with the article that eliminates agency regulation, the licensing law will be effectively repealed anyway. Maybe the Chamber of Commerce can ask the Traditionalists for a little help in boosting the budget?

The issue certainly isn’t over as yet, but it sure doesn’t look good for those Traditionalist who want to hang on to way things “use to be”.

The airlines didn’t care, Internet Web sites don’t care, most of YTB doesn’t care, and now it looks like Rhode Island doesn’t care either.

Is it any wonder why they are so bitter, angry and upset?
